Road safety awareness for young people
Our roads are constantly changing and becoming increasingly more complex. Practical exercises and discussions convey clear messages that can be put to use immediately in everyday situations.
RoadSense encourages young people to take responsibility for doing the right thing on the road – whether as a passenger, driver, pedestrian or cyclist.
Specially trained coaches help pupils to assess themselves and others around them – for their own safety and that of other road users.
RoadSense goals:
A change in perspective.
By stepping into the shoes of other drivers and passengers, the behaviour of others becomes clearer.
Assessing ourselves.
Getting to know our own strengths and weaknesses can help us adapt quickly to situations and develop strategies for maintaining safety.
Controlling situations.
What would happen if? Understanding that every passenger can influence what happens in the car.
Avoiding risks.
When we perceive a risk or predict a risky situation, what can we do to avoid it?
This half-day programme is run at Mercedes-Benz World. Practical exercises are led by a specially trained driving coach and take place on our handling circuits away from traffic, in a dual-controlled Mercedes-Benz A Class. A group discussion draws on the pupil’s own real life experiences and explores how feelings and emotions affect road traffic situations.
RoadSense: ½ day, £25 per pupil (subsidised)
Available to School or Youth groups only
